ADR-0001: CLI-first MVP
Context
Thalix Vault needs one secure, operational workflow quickly. Building complete CLI, desktop, public API, and web administration surfaces together would expand compatibility, security, and testing obligations before the core domain is proven.
Decision
The tv CLI will be the only complete MVP product interface for file and administrative operations. The website is limited to landing, login, and minimal account state. Internal service functions support the CLI and website but are not a public API. The Tauri desktop client follows after the CLI contract stabilizes.
Consequences
- Every MVP user story must be achievable through
tv. - CLI behavior, exit codes, structured output, and error contracts become first-class product interfaces.
- Administration ships under
tv admin; no admin web console is required. - Internal backend changes remain possible without a public API compatibility promise.
- Later clients should reuse stable domain contracts rather than reimplement policy.
Validation required
Accept this decision when the CLI vertical slice completes the release smoke flow and the team confirms that no MVP acceptance criterion requires a second complete interface.
